Wandering through Montreal

I was lost on the back streets of Montreal in the rain. It sounds like song lyrics, but it also happens to be true. I enjoy getting lost in a new city. It’s a great way to see and experience things I wouldn’t normally and to get a feel for a place.

Before the rise of smart phones I would carry a map—either an official one or a simple print out—so that I could find myself when I was done being lost. Now I’ve come to rely heavily on my iPhone and Google maps to do the finding for me. But I didn’t have data coverage in Montreal, so I was forced again to find myself. Continue reading »

Breweries 3

Taps, Niagara Falls, Canada. As one of the first breweries we visited, Taps in an important milestone in my beer tasting adventures.

During our honeymoon in Niagara Falls we found Taps brewery in a converted garage not far from the picturesque town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.  At the time they had only a couple of beers, we bought a six-pack of the now retired “Premium Ale,” which was excellent.  Fast forward a few years and we’re in the new and expanded Taps brew house and restaurant in downtown Niagara Falls, Canada.  Continue reading »
